CLIENT CONVERSATIONS

The exact words to use when introducing labs to clients

You don't need to be a lab expert. You need one confident sentence that opens the door. This page gives you that — and everything that comes after it.

The #1 reason coaches don't offer labs

They don't know what to say.

What changes when you have a script:

Everything.

When to bring labs up, and what to say first

There are four natural moments in any coaching relationship where labs become an obvious next step. Here's how to recognize each one.

1
Discovery or intake call
Client describes fatigue, weight issues, hormonal symptoms, or feeling off despite doing everything right.
One thing I do with clients before we dive in is run a functional lab panel, it shows us exactly what's happening so we're not guessing.
2
When a client plateaus
Progress has stalled despite consistent effort on training, nutrition, or lifestyle.
When we hit a wall like this, it's usually something internal. I can get us access to labs that show us exactly where the block is.
3
Program onboarding
New client is starting a program and you want to set a strong data-driven foundation.
As part of how I onboard clients, I like to start with a baseline lab panel, it makes everything we do together more targeted.
4
Client mentions a symptom
Client casually mentions brain fog, low energy, poor sleep, mood changes, or digestive issues.
That's actually one of the things functional testing looks at directly. It might be worth running a panel to see what's driving that.

You don't need a formal moment. Any time a client says 'I've tried everything' or 'I don't know why I feel this way', that's your opening.

Full conversation scripts, by who you're talking to

Pick your scenario, copy the script, and make it yours. These are starting points, not scripts to read word for word.
Part of how I work is making sure we're not building your program on guesswork. I partner with a functional lab company that lets us see your hormones, metabolism, gut health, and nutrient levels, the stuff most doctors don't test. It changes everything about how we approach your health.
The way it works is simple, you order through me, do a blood draw at a local lab, and results come back within a few days. I look at them with you and we use them to shape your program from day one. There's also an option to have a licensed provider give you a full breakdown if you want that clinical layer.
Want me to send you the details on which panel makes the most sense for what you're dealing with?
I want to try something different with you, because I think what's holding you back might not be training at all. I can get us access to functional lab testing that looks at your hormones, metabolism, and inflammation markers. If something's off internally, no amount of training fixes it until we address that.
It's not complicated, you order through me, get a blood draw, and we get results back fast. I can walk you through what they mean and we adjust your program based on actual data.
It's worth a conversation, want me to show you what the panel covers?
We've recently added functional lab testing to our intake process — it helps us understand what's happening hormonally and metabolically before we build your treatment plan. It's the difference between a generic protocol and one that's actually designed for your body.
We work with HealSoma — they handle all the ordering and logistics. You can add a provider review for a comprehensive written breakdown of your results, or a telehealth call if you want to talk through next steps with a licensed provider.
I can include this in your intake — want me to walk you through what we'd be looking at?
I want to share something I've been offering clients that has genuinely changed how I work. Functional lab testing — it's the deeper panel that looks at what's actually driving how you feel. Hormones, thyroid, gut health, nutrients. The stuff that standard bloodwork doesn't touch.
I've partnered with a company called HealSoma that makes it really accessible — you don't need a referral, it ships nationwide, and results come back fast. There's even an option to have a licensed provider give you a full written breakdown.
I think you'd find it really valuable — want me to send you more info?

When they push back, what to say

Every objection is a question in disguise. Here's how to hear what they're really asking, and respond in a way that moves things forward.
OBJECTION

It's too expensive.

What they really mean

I'm not sure the value justifies the cost yet.

Your response

I completely understand — it's an investment. What I'd ask you to consider is how much you've already spent trying to figure out what's wrong without real answers. This gives you a map. One clear panel can tell you more than years of guessing.

Reframes cost as efficiency, not expense.

OBJECTION

I already get bloodwork from my doctor.

What they really mean

I think I'm already covered.

Your response

That's actually really common — and standard bloodwork is great for what it does. But it's designed to catch disease, not to find what's making you feel off when everything looks 'normal.' Functional labs look at optimal ranges, not just averages. They're asking a different question.

Validates them first, then expands their understanding.

OBJECTION

I don't know what to do with the results.

What they really mean

I'm worried I'll be confused and left on my own.

Your response

That's exactly why I'm involved — you're not getting results and figuring it out alone. I'll walk you through them with you. And there's also an option to add a provider review, where a licensed provider gives you a comprehensive written breakdown. You can even book a telehealth call if you want to talk it through further.

Removes fear of abandonment — they have support at every level.

OBJECTION

I need to think about it.

What they really mean

I'm interested but not quite convinced yet.

Your response

Of course — take your time. Can I ask what would make you feel more confident about it? Sometimes it helps to just look at what the panel actually tests — it makes it feel a lot more concrete. I can send that over while you're thinking.

Keeps momentum without pressure. Gives them something to engage with.

What happens when results come in

Your clients will ask. Here's exactly how to explain the process, and how to present the provider review option.
1

Results arrive

Lab orders are processed within 1–2 days, so your client can get started quickly. Once testing is completed, results are delivered digitally within 1–2 weeks directly to your client. No waiting rooms. No delays. Just clear data, delivered seamlessly.
2

Review and make sense of them

You can walk your client through their results using HealSoma’s education resources, or incorporate the insights into your existing care. If additional support is needed, your client can add a provider review for $115, where a HealSoma licensed provider delivers a comprehensive written breakdown of each marker, what it means, and recommended next steps.
3

Next steps and deeper support

Based on the results, you adjust the program. If the client wants to go deeper, they can book an optional 1:1 telehealth call with the provider for personalized guidance beyond the written report.

How to present the provider review to clients

There's an option to add a licensed provider review for $115 — they give you a full written breakdown of every result, what it means for your health specifically, and what they recommend. A lot of my clients find it really valuable to have that clinical layer on top of what we do together.

If they want even more support

If after reviewing your results you’d like to speak directly with a provider, you can reach out to HealSoma to book a telehealth consultation for personalized guidance.

Follow-up messages that actually get responses

Most sales happen in the follow-up. Here are three messages for the moments that matter most — copy and send.

After they said they'd think about it (no reply after 3 days)
