CLIENT CONVERSATIONS
The exact words to use when introducing labs to clients
You don't need to be a lab expert. You need one confident sentence that opens the door. This page gives you that — and everything that comes after it.
The #1 reason coaches don't offer labs
They don't know what to say.
What changes when you have a script:
Everything.

When to bring labs up, and what to say first
There are four natural moments in any coaching relationship where labs become an obvious next step. Here's how to recognize each one.
You don't need a formal moment. Any time a client says 'I've tried everything' or 'I don't know why I feel this way', that's your opening.
Full conversation scripts, by who you're talking to
Part of how I work is making sure we're not building your program on guesswork. I partner with a functional lab company that lets us see your hormones, metabolism, gut health, and nutrient levels, the stuff most doctors don't test. It changes everything about how we approach your health.
I want to try something different with you, because I think what's holding you back might not be training at all. I can get us access to functional lab testing that looks at your hormones, metabolism, and inflammation markers. If something's off internally, no amount of training fixes it until we address that.
We've recently added functional lab testing to our intake process — it helps us understand what's happening hormonally and metabolically before we build your treatment plan. It's the difference between a generic protocol and one that's actually designed for your body.
I want to share something I've been offering clients that has genuinely changed how I work. Functional lab testing — it's the deeper panel that looks at what's actually driving how you feel. Hormones, thyroid, gut health, nutrients. The stuff that standard bloodwork doesn't touch.
When they push back, what to say
It's too expensive.
What they really mean
I'm not sure the value justifies the cost yet.
Your response
I completely understand — it's an investment. What I'd ask you to consider is how much you've already spent trying to figure out what's wrong without real answers. This gives you a map. One clear panel can tell you more than years of guessing.
Reframes cost as efficiency, not expense.
I already get bloodwork from my doctor.
What they really mean
I think I'm already covered.
Your response
That's actually really common — and standard bloodwork is great for what it does. But it's designed to catch disease, not to find what's making you feel off when everything looks 'normal.' Functional labs look at optimal ranges, not just averages. They're asking a different question.
Validates them first, then expands their understanding.
I don't know what to do with the results.
What they really mean
I'm worried I'll be confused and left on my own.
Your response
That's exactly why I'm involved — you're not getting results and figuring it out alone. I'll walk you through them with you. And there's also an option to add a provider review, where a licensed provider gives you a comprehensive written breakdown. You can even book a telehealth call if you want to talk it through further.
Removes fear of abandonment — they have support at every level.
I need to think about it.
What they really mean
I'm interested but not quite convinced yet.
Your response
Of course — take your time. Can I ask what would make you feel more confident about it? Sometimes it helps to just look at what the panel actually tests — it makes it feel a lot more concrete. I can send that over while you're thinking.
Keeps momentum without pressure. Gives them something to engage with.
